Chinese New Year or Lunar New Year 2022 begins on Tuesday, February 1st, 2022, kicking off a year of the Tiger.

The date for Chinese New Year changes each year. It usually falls between January 21 and February 20 and is determined by lunar cycles rather than solar cycles. 

Celebrations typically last 16 days, and go on this year until February 15th. The final day of the celebrations is marked by the magical Lantern Festival. This is when people light paper lanterns off and watch them fly off into the sky.
